Choosing a wedding cake for your big day is one of the more lighthearted wedding planning tasks for most couples. Your wedding cake is an expression of your style as a couple, of your wedding day, and of your theme. Depending on what kind of wedding cake or cakes that you go with and your theme, you can really get creative with your cake display. Have some fun with it and make it a focal point. Here are a few wedding cake displays that you will adore!

Single Wedding Cakes
For a rustic, garden theme, place your wedding cake on a tree stump cake display. You can DIY this specifically for your wedding, if you would like. Surround it with your favorite mugs, and some of your beautiful wedding flowers (you can repurpose the bridesmaids bouquets for this to save a few bucks), and don’t forget the twinkle lights! Wrap them around the base of the tree stump to light up the display.
Wine Barrels! This ‘naked’ wedding cake is absolutely stunning with colorful berries, surrounded by baby’s breath and red roses atop of a vintage wine barrel.

Pretty up a textured, vintage inspired, white wedding cake with some of your favorite hanging flowers to provide a soft, romantic display. Spread out a few desserts in decorative dishes to add pops of color and depth to the cake table. Note that this isn’t an ordinary cake table with a white linen draped over it. Embrace the idea of a rustic table, vintage desk, or modern glass tabletop to enhance the look.
The gem in this photo is the country crate. You can easily add height and texture to any wedding cake this way. Stain it, paint it, or write on it to match your theme. If you have the single wedding cake and need more décor, add a few candles in mercury glass or lace votives to offer an enchanting glow.

This stunning gold cake hardly needs a fancy display to attract attention. However, the pop of color from the flowers on the cake and wall of flowers and greenery behind it bring style to a whole new level. You wouldn’t think a pair of deer antlers would compliment this wedding cake so well, but it just so happens to be the perfect addition!
Multi Wedding Cake Displays
We love that this couple separated their three tier wedding cake to create a fun and functional look for their cake display. Add a pop of color with some flowers on a rustic wine barrel, and you have a fabulous setup.
Vintage inspired tables are so ‘in’ for cake table displays. Find one of these beauties and pretty platters to place your wedding cakes on, and you will automatically create a classy, whimsical look. Gather a few candles, a book of poems, or some flower petals to add more dimension if desired.
If you want to get really creative, embrace a new wedding cake trend. These displays are simply to-die-for! Set these gorgeous miniature wedding cakes on candlestick holders or personal sized crystal platters. Consider having a larger cake made to serve, and a few smaller ones to place on the candle holders. This way you can also be sure to not over-do it, and you won’t break the bank. If you want all of your guests to be served individual cakes, consider a display like the second photo. Place the individual cakes on a table with a large decorative mirror and strategically place candles in-between the cakes to create a reflective glow.

This swing display idea is simply darling! Maybe I’m partial because my family is from the South and I have a true appreciation for a pretty swing. However, if you have a few wedding cakes to serve, this is a very unique and elegant way to display them. Don’t leave out the flowers. You can even repurpose the flowers created for your wedding ceremony trellis. Add some ambiance with twinkle lights and/or candles around the cakes or at the base of the swing.

How can one honestly look at this photo without thinking ‘Beauty and the Beast’, simply because of the glass coverings over the wedding cakes. This is a clever choice to shield your beautiful cakes from any and all natural elements, including insects while outdoors. Complete the whimsical look with a chic vanity. To add height or color where needed, stack a few storybooks on top of each other and put them to good use by placing plates, cake cutters, or cakes them.

Cake + Cupcake Displays
For a rustic, winter cake and cupcake display, this is sure to take your breath away. Create a winter wonderland with tree stumps, white or silver manzanita branches, twinkle lights, and hanging crystals, or ornaments. Disperse the tree stump displays to situate your wedding cake in the middle, and place the remaining tree stumps around it to arrange the cupcakes on. Make them different heights to create a forest-like feel.

This wedding cake table display will be the talk of the town when placed on this lovely, decked-out trailer hitch. Here is where manly meets Southern Belle. Place your wedding cake in the middle of the trailer and have different sized platters placed around the table top to hold your cupcakes. You could also take a few crates and place them around the wedding cake to present the cupcakes that way. Gather some lace or burlap to cascade over or around the crates to add more texture to the tabletop.

To create a rustic, country, cake display, position the wedding cake on a round log. If you want to add some sparkle, you can always spray paint the top part of the log in silver or gold, or add a sequin metallic tablecloth, such as gold, rose gold, or silver. Place the crates on their sides to house the cupcakes in and you will have a darling display.

If you want to create the illusion of height with a wedding cake and cupcakes, this beautiful, rustic wood tiered stand is the way to go. The wedding cake is displayed on top, with the cupcakes cascading down in front of the cake. Pair the stand with a metallic linen for a striking contrast, and add some lighting behind the cake to make it more of a glamorous focal point.
Did you ever think a ladder could be your cake stand of choice at your wedding? Take a wooden ladder and some wood shelving, then place your cakes throughout the tiers that you’ve created. Carefully place the cupcakes to the right and left of your larger cake displays. If there is extra room, decorate the ladder with colorful vases, silver, gold, or copper antiques, vintage farmhouse decorations, candles, etc. Place the ladder in front of a gorgeous backdrop such as a wall of greenery, a fireplace, or a flower wall.

This final display was too darling and clever not to share. If you are solely serving cupcakes at your wedding, create a lovely tier for the cupcakes to stand on. Separate the bride and groom’s cupcakes from the rest of the crowd to create a dramatic presentation. Covering these cupcakes will protect them and indicate to your guests that they are for the bride and groom specifically. If you want to create a more upscale look, ask your cupcake baker to use cupcake wrap designs around each cupcake.
