Hello lovelies! I’m a huge advocate for couples taking the time to carefully consider their wedding ceremony backdrops. Think about it. Your wedding photos are the one thing that you will hang on to for decades to come, and your most precious photos will be of you saying ‘I do’ during your ceremony. Be unique. Embrace your sense of creativity and branch out from what has already been done 10,000 times. Here are some sure fire swoon-worthy wedding ceremony backdrops to get you started!
Ceremony With a View
If you are lucky enough to have a view, don’t sabotage it, enhance it! Create a space lower to the ground with blooms, vines, wildflowers, grains, tree stumps, or lanterns.
Beat The Sand
Have you always fantasized over having a wedding directly on the beach but are slightly turned off by the sand that you have to stand in? Place your trellis or chuppah on a deck and use it to keep the sand from getting in your shoes and ruining your wedding dress.
My favorite thing about the Bohemian style is the freedom to create and think outside of the box. You don’t necessarily see a lot of the same décor for bohemian weddings because couples tend to get creative simply by expressing themselves. Blend natural red birch branch vines with greenery and your wedding flowers to create a unique look. This trellis would look amazing in a forest or on a beach!
It’s no secret that industrial wedding venues are quickly rising in popularity. Many industrial buildings have high ceilings which will require vision to fill the space properly. This is a dream for a wedding designer! Look at the difference in simply hanging drapery straight down versus having it drape sideways. Notice that you can also veer from the classic white to a neutral color. This will make a difference in the overall ambience you are trying to achieve.
Driftwood Wedding Arch
Whether you are exchanging vows directly on the beach or overlooking the ocean, a driftwood arch makes a gorgeous statement. Excessive blooms and drapery aren’t necessary here. Stick with a minimalist look and your photos will be perfect!
Intimate Romantic Indoor Ceremony
If your ceremony is a rather intimate one, a setup of tall branches and glowing lighting from candles and lanterns create a captivating setting. One that is also not so overdone and isn’t so complicated to arrange.
Lovers of the Written Word
If you and/or your fiancé share a love of the written word, adore poetry, share a special song or simply want to document your vows on a larger scale, you can. Attach a custom backdrop to a trellis, suspend it from a tree, hang it from the ceiling, or wherever you see fit.
The romantic gleam of string lights are lost on enormous, beautiful trees in the light of day, but you have alternatives. You do not typically see large trees ordained in a plethora of gorgeous blooms, however this makes an exquisite backdrop for a wedding ceremony. If you prefer more greenery, attaching vines would also add a romantic touch.
A Pop of Color
Ribbon adds a rather playful pop of color to a wedding ceremony. One that will play a role in the
beauty of your venue, wedding photos, and even the reaction and participation of your guests. Embrace the spontaneity if you so desire and run with it!
Romantic Wedding Wreath
Think outside the box with your wedding designer and florist and have them create a unique piece that really stands out at your wedding. This large wedding wreath makes a stunning setting for this bride and groom to be admired by many.
What out of the box ceremony backdrops have you discovered? We’d love to hear all about them!
