The 2017 wedding season is just around the corner and we are seeing a buzz of simplistic, sophisticated design and natural elements being incorporated into weddings this year. It’s a very fresh, interesting turn of style that couples are indulging.
Bridesmaids – Bouquets Or a Single Flower?
Brides are now having their bridesmaids carry a single flower instead of a bouquet. This change may seem like a minimalistic approach or a way to save money, however I think it goes further than that. For one a charming flower on its own is quite endearing and respectable (ahem, The Bachelor). Not only that but this opens the doors to splurge on a more expensive choice of flower that may be preferable to the norm that was just taking up space. Think peony instead a of a bouquet of roses and carnations.
Have you seen a metallic wedding cake, or a marble wedding cake? They’re gorgeous! The question is whether they are too pretty to eat or will have your guests finally indulging themselves to partake in such a beautiful work of art?! You know what they’re going to do? They will take a picture of it, post it on Instagram, and then eat it! These two absolutely stunning wedding cakes are by Poppy Pickering and Cake Ink. They are incredible at their craft!
Style and Design – Welcoming Natural Elements
This year couples are getting even braver with nature by bringing more of it inside and using it as accents. You will see an increase of small trees being used in the ceremony space to line the aisles, and more greenery and branches incorporated into centerpieces. Furthermore, marble, gold and silver colors will be used for the details such as chargers, table numbers, escort cards.
Invitations – Gold and Silver Foil
Gold and silver foil invitations have made their debut and are taking over. I like to think of the wedding invitation as a window to what can be expected at the wedding. They are truly impressive and add a luxurious touch. Honestly, who is not going to want to attend your wedding when they receive that in the mail?

Colored Wedding Dresses
More and more brides are jumping on the colored wedding dresses bandwagon. We are seeing brides in blush pink, dusty blue, and floral printed wedding gowns. What if you love the new trend but are hesitant to veer from tradition?

Personally, I think that there are several factors here. For one, you can’t go wrong with a classic white or ivory gown.
Will you still be satisfied with your choice years down the road?
Do you have the option to purchase two gown? One for the ceremony and one for the reception?
What style of wedding are you having? Very formal black tie event in a church, or a more relaxed bohemian or beachside wedding?
Remember, there is no right or wrong answer. Choose what makes you feel the most beautiful on your wedding day. Just make sure it’s a decision you will be proud of in the future.
